Another transparency update for our email talks with Mojang, with emails attached below per usual.

As a heads up, we are working on implementing solutions to meet Mojang’s issues identified. The details of such will be posted later once we have sorted that out, but this will be coming up soon.

Regarding the belief that the admin team intentionally attempted to hide this information, we want to clarify that the initial demotion of the staff member in question was made under the belief that the harassment was directed toward a singular individual of legal age. However, new evidence has come to light indicating that the harassment was more widespread and included users under the age of consent. Had we been aware of the full extent of the situation at the time, more severe action would have been taken immediately.

We apologise for any shortcomings in our handling of this matter and are committed to taking steps to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. The safety and well-being of our community, especially our younger members, is of utmost importance to us.” (Posted by AlphaAlex)

P.S. A personal note from SlowRiot: It should be noted that the admin team are well aware that concepts such as “hate speech” are deliberately vaguely defined, and can easily be misused to silence political debate or individual free expression. We are implementing these changes because it is the only way to remain compliant with Microsoft’s demands, and we expect these tools to be used only in exceptional circumstances where there is real potential for harm, not to prevent earnest exchanges of ideas in good faith, nor to enable trolls to bait others into being banned from the game for a careless or thoughtless comment. These are tools of last resort – please don’t treat them as toys, or look for excuses to use them on players you don’t like. Please remember that further down the path of censorship we go, even in a block game, the greater the potential impact may be on all of our lives in the long run.
