A personal note from SlowRiot: It should be noted that the admin team are well aware that concepts such as “hate speech” are deliberately vaguely defined, and can easily be misused to silence political debate or individual free expression. We are implementing these changes because it is the only way to remain compliant with Microsoft’s demands, and we expect these tools to be used only in exceptional circumstances where there is real potential for harm, not to prevent earnest exchanges of ideas in good faith, nor to enable trolls to bait others into being banned from the game for a careless or thoughtless comment. These are tools of last resort – please don’t treat them as toys, or look for excuses to use them on players you don’t like. Please remember that further down the path of censorship we go, even in a block game, the greater the potential impact may be on all of our lives in the long run.

In the future we will be implementing a new chat policy as well as a new server plugin as we try to align our server with Mojang and Microsoft’s TOS.

Starting soon, Chat will have a censor implemented in-game and on Discord that will censor certain words or phrases that go against Mojang’s, Microsoft’s, and Discord’s TOS, as well as a reporting system for anything that may get past these censors.

We have also made an amendment to our freedom of speech policy, changing it to freedom of expression. You will still be able to talk freely, as long as it does not break Mojang’s TOS. Speaking politics and criticism has always been and will be a core value of the server. However, we will not allow hate speech (as defined by Mojang / Microsoft), threatening real life violence, or sexual solicitation. You can get to the event location through the Event Hub and the corresponding teleport pad. To participate you will need to replace the sign on **one** free plot and put your name on it. You can also name your creation if you want to.

Hey all (again),

Another transparency update for our email talks with Mojang, with emails attached below per usual.
